We’ve seen the world return back to its old self after the gruesome pandemic years, and now that the world is more open, we’ve also seen the return of a lot of pre-pandemic events – fashion events being one of the most prominent ones.

For the South Asian fashion enthusiast diaspora, particularly Indian – this past week marked the return of the first physical FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week after the pandemic. And lately, with the evolution of the online world, a lot of what happened on ground was also made viewable to people online via Instagram Live.

If you’re new to fashion and want to gain more of an understanding on what fashion weeks are and why they happen I recommend you watch this video by the YouTube channel – Fashion Roadman

In this article I’d like to speak about Nachiket Barve’s collection – “Ephemera” that was showcased on the ramp on the 16th of October – 2:30 PM IST, at Mumbai, India. In the words of the designer – “The collection ‘Ephemera’ is a cocktail & evening wear collection, all delicately handcrafted for your iconic moments & special occasions”.

The collection on the ramp was a set of beautiful silhouettes and was all about high slits, capes, embellished monochromes, and ruffled dupatta shawls. There’s a lot of detailed handiwork and craftsmanship in each of the looks that were showcased on the ramp. The silhouettes were sophisticated and timeless and adorned with glamorous embellishment.

The collection contained these distinct types – Monochromatic black with blingy embellishment, elegant pinks and wines, again with stunning hand worked embellishment, a round of somber yet vivid neutrals, and one men’s wear look again in Monochrome black and flattering embellishment.

The show stopper Huma Qureshi, also adorned a beautiful magenta pink lehenga with stunning floral handiwork, and ruffled Dupatta shawl which also seen on many other muses at Nachiket’s show.

Nachiket Barve has also bagged the prestigious National Award for Best Costume for ‘Tanhaji’. Watching his collection on the ramp at the FDCI X Lakme Fashion Week 2022 was truly a delight.
